Ways to Support Us

 

United Ministries is able to continue its work through individual and community support.  There are a number of ways to support the work of United Ministries, including:

  • Monetary Donations
    Your monetary contributions go directly toward helping members of our community who have fallen on hard times. For different methods of giving, please visit our Make a Donation page.

  • In-Kind Donations
    To provide for the day-to-day, tangible needs of our participants, we appreciate in-kind donations from the community. For your convenience, United Ministries has set up an easy-access wish list on Amazon. We update the items regularly to meet our current needs. Simply select an item from our list, place it in your cart and purchase.  Our address is associated with the list to make it simple to ship items directly to our doorstep.  In addition to the wish list, United Ministries is always in need of non-perishable food items to keep our pantry well stocked.We keep our list of items needed for the food pantry here.
  • Honorary or Memorial Gift
    There is no better way to honor a special person in your life or the memory of a loved one than through an Honorary or Memorial gift. If you would like to make this donation online, we offer the convenience of an online donation form where you can complete information about your Memorial Gift, or feel free to call 864.232.6463.  All honors and memorials are listed in our monthly newsletter.

  • Designate United Ministries as your BI-LO Boostersplus Charity
    Do good as you buy groceries.  BI-LO will donate 1% of your purchases to United Ministries. You may select up to 3 charities; the donation will be evenly split amongst your charities. To participate, please pick up a keychain card.

  • Transfer Stock Shares to United Ministries 
    A unique way to support a local charity is by transferring stock shares. You will need to get the stock's original purchase price either from your records or from your broker. Contact your brokerage firm and inform them of your plans to give your stock to United Ministries, including which stock how many shares. Ask them for a stock transfer form, and fill it out completely. Make copies of all of your documents, and mail this form with an accompanying letter detailing instructions to us at 606 Pendleton Street, Greenville, SC 29601.  Be sure to follow up with us to make sure that we have received the transfer.   • Name United Ministries as a Beneficiary
    Making a gift by Last Will and Testament is an excellent way to leave a lasting legacy with causes you support and endear. You may make a donation through a family trust, life insurance policy or individual retirement account. For your convenience, below is sample wording:

    I give _____ [$ amount, description of property, or % of estate] to United Ministries, a South Carolina charitable corporation located at 606 Pendleton Street in Greenville, South Carolina, restricted to _____ [describe or name program - OPTIONAL]. If at any time in the judgment of the UM Board of Trustees it is deemed impossible or impracticable to carry out the above purpose, the Trustees shall determine a purpose as near as possible to that described above.
