On
the Journey Toward a Home
The Place of Hope addresses the core problems
leading to
homelessness such as: unemployment, poor
health, substance
abuse, mental illness, and lack
of education. By establishing
relationships with
participants, showing interest and under-
standing of
their situation, and partnering with other agencies
in the community, the Place of Hope is able to help
individuals
get off the streets and into a home.
To some people, homelessness is a way of life. They
know
where to go to get a shower, a meal, even a
pair of socks.
While the Place of Hope provides
basic services to people who
are
homeless, it
strives to forge a deeper relationship and
address
the reasons behind homelessness. The deeper
relationship takes time and trust.
Basic Services: Place of Hope provides mail,
showers,
laundry
services, lockers, restrooms, telephone,
and
assistance
obtaining identification documents.
Back on Track: An advanced level provides intense
case
management to help participants get substance
abuse or mental
health treatment, long-term
housing, legal servcies and more.
