Graduate Services

In addition to providing a full cap-and-gown graduation ceremony, the program provides other follow-up services to help graduates make the most of the new opportunities available to them.  Students completing the WorkKeys component of the program will receive a career planning session with our WorkKeys Coordinator. This session may include resume-building, goal-setting, and career interest inventories. For students who are interested in immediate employment, we have an in-house Transitions Counselor in our Employment Readiness Program who provides services exclusively to our own GED graduates.  Graduates who are interested in job training are given priority in our Advanced Employment Readiness Program or are referred to partner agencies that may provide training more aligned with an individual’s career goals.  Many graduates are interested in enrolling in Greenville Technical College.

For several years, we were able to provide a high level of support for these students during the enrollment and registration process.  However, as the number of graduates increased and agency resources diminished, we have had to curtail this service significantly.  Every effort is made to stay in touch with graduates in order to track progress, but this communication always proves challenging.

  • Of the 407 graduates we had in 2010, we were able to stay in touch and collect data for 262.
  • Of these 262, 251 (96%) had some post-GED achievement:
    • 48 (18.3%) got a job only.
    • 138 (52.6%) enrolled in an education program only.
    • 65 (24.8) both got a job and enrolled in an education program.
