By The Numbers

United Ministries depends on the generosity of the community to support its many programs and services. With hundreds of charities and organizations seeking your hard-earned dollars, why should you choose to support United Ministries with a tax-deductible donation?  Here are three important reasons:

  1. Return on Investment

Every dollar invested in stabilizing a family, removing barriers and creating opportunities for individuals to improve their education or employment yields exorbitant savings for the community through reduced government support, reduced unemployment and increased tax base.

  2. Community Impact

All four of United Ministries’ programs are aligned with the United Way of Greenville County’s Community Impact Agenda, which has identified the most urgent needs facing Greenville. Our alignment with the Community Impact Agenda gives an extra measure of credence to the work we’ve known all along to be important.

  3. Results

In 2010, over 9,000 individuals were assisted with the programs and services of United Ministries:

    Individual Program Impact

    • Emergency Assistance stabilized 6,767 families with food and 3,225 people with heat or financial assistance with rent or utilities.
    • Place of Hope assisted 19 homeless individuals as they moved into long-term housing. Hundreds more were helped with basic services such as showers, laundry, mail with over 18,000 visits.
    • Adult Education graduated 407 GED recipients.  If our GED program were a high school, we would have third largest graduating class in Greenville County.
    • Employment Readiness assisted participants in training for, or obtaining, 276 new jobs.

United Ministries has adopted the Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. All donor information is kept confidential and is used for our record keeping only. We are registered with the Internal Revenue Service and SC Secretary of State.
