Taking Steps Toward Self-Sufficiency

Program Overview: The mission of Employment Readiness is to remove barriers for individuals who are motivated to improve their employment status. Created to respond to the need of Greenville residents for employment, the program helps many unemployed or underemployed workers who need assistance with obtaining and/or retaining employment.  The Employment Readiness program partners with multiple agencies and training providers to improve the financial stability of participants.  This program is open to the public.

How It Works: Counselors work one-on-one with participants to build relationships, teach employability skills, provide job leads, and remove barriers that negatively impact employment, such as transportation, childcare, criminal background, and substance abuse issues.

For Participants: Employment Readiness offers two tiers of services:

  • Basic Services:  Individuals join the program by attending a workshop that covers fundamental employability skills.  Workshops are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 a.m.  Space is limited.  Individuals then meet with a counselor on a weekly or bi-weekly basis during the job search process.  Follow-up services are provided once a participant obtains employment.
  • Advanced Services:  United Ministries sponsors select individuals for job training courses, such as certified nursing assistant.  Individuals participating in this tier of the program are selected through an application and screening process.  Case management is provided before, during, and for one year after training to ensure long-term success and stability.  If you are interested in being sponsored for a job training course or if you would like more information, please contact Amanda Warren at 233-6602.
