Providing Necessities in Times of Need

Program Overview: A temporary crisis can either be stabilized or turned into a catastrophe. The Emergency Assistance Program can stabilize a family with something most people take for granted: a grocery bag of food or a $15 prescription.

The mission of Emergency Assistance is to provide hopeful options, strong encouragement and a measure of stability to people finding themselves in financial crisis. The program assists with food, life-sustaining medications, rent, utilities, heat and food stamp applications. Staff and volunteers motivate people to make significant changes in their lives that will allow them to support themselves in the future.

How It Works:
Participants arrive on property at designated times.  They meet with a volunteer interviewer to discuss needs, barriers and solutions. Participants can receive assistance with food, life-sustaining medications, rent, utilities, heat and food stamp applications. A valid Social Security card, picture ID and utility or rent bill or proof of disability (if applicable) are required.

For Participants:
Participants are eligible for assistance based on individual need and previous assistance offered.  Please see below the types of assistance available with details on eligibility:

  • Food: once every 6 months per household
  • Life-sustaining medicine: once every 12 months per individual
  • Financial assistance: once every 24 months per household
  • Heat assistance, once every 24 months during heat season (November-February) to the elderly (60 or older) or a household with a child under the age of 2
